Are Toilet Paper Rolls Safe For Hamsters

Like many of us, I remember my childhood hamster and all the fun we had together. He was so cute, running around in his wheel as I watched him with a smile.

But I didn’t know when I was young that some hamsters love to chew – they love chewing on anything they come across, including the toilet paper roll on your bathroom counter.

My curiosity got the best of me one day, and I wondered if it would be safe for my little buddy to enjoy something like an empty toilet paper roll. So, after researching and speaking with a few experts, this blog post aims to answer that question once and for all – are toilet paper rolls safe for hamsters?!

Are Toilet Paper Rolls Safe For Hamsters?

Toilet paper rolls are a great and 100% safe toy for hamsters! Whether you’ve got an all-time classic Syrian hamster or a playful Roborovski dwarf, using toilet paper rolls as enrichment is fun for your pet and inexpensive. Not to mention that it’s easy to clean up in case your furry friend decides to make a mess.

Toilet paper rolls can be used in several different ways – your pet can crawl through them, hide inside them, nibble on them – and if you feel creative enough, there are many more options for things you can do with these recyclable materials. So if you’re looking for something affordable and eco-friendly at the same time – toilet paper rolls are the way to go!

Is Toilet Paper Good For Hamsters?

Believe it or not, toilet paper isn’t just good for humans; it can also provide hours of entertainment for your pet hamster! Since hamsters tend to love exploring, burrowing, and tearing up materials, the soft fibers of toilet paper are a great source of stimulation.

It allows them to build tunnels and hideouts, which builds muscle and is psychologically stimulating. Not only that, but toilet paper also provides minor dental-cleaning benefits since it helps clean plaque off their teeth as they pull them apart. Overall, having toilet paper around for your hamster is a safe and affordable way for them to stay physically active and mentally stimulated.

Is Toilet Paper Good For Hamster Bedding?

Toilet paper and tissue paper make excellent bedding materials for your hamster’s cage! They’re soft, absorbent, and comfortable for little hamster paws. It’s also easy to change out since it tends to clump together when wet. Scoop out the bits that need to be replaced, grab a few sheets of the fresh toilet or tissue paper, shred them down into strips, and toss the new strands in with your existing bedding. Not only is this an affordable solution, but it also helps prevent you from having to buy another bag of unique hamster bedding every week. Plus, it’s fun for the kids to help out by joining in on the paper shredding process!

Can Hamsters Eat Toilet Paper?

It’s often a big question, can Hamsters eat toilet paper? Well, hamsters can eat toilet paper and easily digest them – but we don’t recommend it! Toilet paper is usually made from wood pulp and contains no harsh chemicals or dyes like other types of paper.

Plus, it’s soft on your furry little friend’s teeth, so there’s much less chance of it getting stuck in their mouth or throat. That being said, you should still make sure to buy non-perfumed, unscented toilet paper that hasn’t been bleached with chlorine bleach since this can cause harm to your pet’s digestive tracks.

If you follow these guidelines, you’re good to go – but remember that your hamster will likely prefer other snacks over toilet paper!

How Do You Make Hamster Toys Out Of Toilet Paper Rolls?

If you’re looking for a fun and inexpensive way to keep your pet hamster entertained, then look no further than the humble toilet paper roll! With just a few simple materials and some basic crafting skills, you can easily create a variety of toys for your furry friend. Here’s how to get started.

Gather Your Supplies

Before you start making the toys, make sure you have the right supplies on hand. All you’ll need is some toilet paper rolls, scissors or an X-acto knife, glue, crayons or markers (optional), and anything else that might be fun to add, such as colorful felt strips or pom-poms. Once you’ve gathered all of your supplies, it’s time to start crafting!

Making Hamster Wheels

One of the most popular toys that hamsters love is a wheel made out of toilet paper rolls. To make one:

  1. Cut two toilet paper rolls in half lengthwise so that each one is about 4 inches long.
  2. Glue them together in a circle shape with the edges overlapping slightly.
  3. Once it’s dry, use the crayons or markers to decorate it if desired.
  4. Attach a string through the middle of the wheel so that your hamster can pull it around easily.

DIY Maze Playset

Another great toy for your hamster is a maze playset made from toilet paper rolls! Start by cutting several pieces of cardboard into small squares and circles – these will be used as platforms for your maze pieces later on. Next, cut each toilet paper roll into 1-inch sections and glue them together in whatever pattern or shape you’d like (such as stairs or spirals). You can also add felt strips or pom-poms at this stage if desired. Finally, glue the maze pieces onto the cardboard squares and circles to complete the playset!

Bottom Line

From my research, it seems that toilet paper rolls are safe for hamsters to play with as long as you remove any staples or tape. Of course, you should also supervise your furry friend while they’re playing, just in case they decide to chew on the roll itself.
